MM01. F Bailey & Son, Upper Broughton, Leicestershire
F Bailey & Son family butchers was established in Upper Broughton in 1905, over the years this family butchers has gained a considerable reputation for producing the highest quality Melton Mowbray Pork Pies. This reputation is what attracted TV Chef Jamie Oliver to F Bailey & Son in 2011, where he spent the day with the team making pork pies for his Jamies Great Britain series, F Bailey & Son even get a mention in the book which accompanied the series! F Bailey & Son are one of the founding members of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association.
MM03. Dickinson & Morris, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire
Dickinson & Morris are the oldest pork pie bakery and last remaining producer of authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies in Melton. Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe was established in 1851 by John Dickinson, Joseph Morris joined the business in 1886 and in 1901 Dickinson & Morris was formally established. Visitors flock to the shop to see product demonstrations and learn about the history of the famous pork pie. Since the 1990’s Dickinson & Morris Melton Mowbray Pork Pies have been available through supermarkets nationwide and a wide range of Dickinson & Morris products are also available to purchase online at www.porkpie.co.uk Dickinson & Morris are one of the founding members of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association.
MM04. Walker & Son, Beaumont Leys, Leicestershire
Walker & Son was founded in Leicester in 1824 by Mark Walker, who with his son opened a butchers shop on Leicester High Street. Their early success was down to the quality of the sausages they produced, but after building a bakery in their shop Walker & Son soon became famous for their pork pies. Walker & Son are an award winning bakery specialising in the production of the famous authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, there Master Pie Maker, Ian Heircock has been crowned Supreme Champion at the British Pie Awards for 2 consecutive years (2009 / 2010), and crowned Champion Melton Mowbray Pork Pie at the 2012 British Pie Awards. MM05. Mrs Kings Pork Pies, Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire.
Elizabeth King started this family run bakery in 1853, every pie was expertly crafted by hand, a tradition that continues today with Paul Hartland and his brothers. Mrs Kings were proud to be crowned Champion Melton Mowbray Pork Pie at the 2011 British Pie Awards. Mrs Kings are one of the founding members of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association. MM07. Nelsons Family Butchers, Stamford, Lincolnshire
Nelsons have been baking in a purpose built pie factory in Alma Place, Stamford since 1959. Their famous Melton Mowbray Pork Pies are made from locally sourced pork and encased in a rich hot water crust pastry. Brocklebys prides itself on providing high quality foods with provenance. Over the years it has won many awards in recognition of this, including most recently the best Pie/Pizza/Pasty, at The Soil Association Awards in Sept 2012. Leesons Butchers have been in business for the last 12 years and began making their own Melton Mowbray Pork Pies 10 years ago. They use only the finest free range pork and people come from all over the region to buy their pies. In 2009 Leesons Butchers won first prize in the Melton Fat Stock Show for their hand raised Melton Mowbray Pork Pies.
